Boards, sketches and connecting
Choosing a board, getting its sketch, and the safety rules for connecting a signal.
Board
The Board list at the top of the scope says which board you are using. It decides which sketch, steps and settings the scope uses, so choose it before connecting. It is locked while connected.
Sketch
Opens a window with the chosen board’s steps and its sketch, the small program that runs on the board. Copy the sketch puts it on the clipboard to paste into the Arduino IDE; Download saves it as a file.
Connect and Disconnect
Connect shows the safety note, then asks the browser for the board’s port. The status beside it says what is happening. Disconnect stops the board and frees the port for other programs, such as the Arduino IDE.
How it works
Opens a short introduction to the scope, with the list of keyboard shortcuts.
Safety
A board’s input pin is not a probe input.
- Keep the signal between 0 V and the board’s supply: 5 V on an Arduino Uno, 3.3 V on an ESP32 or Pico.
- Share a ground between the signal and the board.
- Never connect mains, anything powered from mains without isolation, or a signal whose size you do not know.
